Our Mission
Kittens In The Mitten (KITM) is a Michigan-based, foster-driven cat rescue dedicated to saving the most vulnerable felines and giving them the second chance they deserve. From orphaned neonatal kittens and medical emergencies to special needs cats, abandoned strays, and community cats in need of TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), our mission is simple: to help every cat we can, no matter how complicated the journey may be.
What started as a passion for helping homeless cats has grown into a rescue committed to tackling some of the toughest cases others often turn away. We specialize in caring for critically ill and injured kittens, neonatal bottle babies, special needs cats, and those requiring extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
At KITM, rescue goes far beyond adoption. We actively work within our communities to reduce feline overpopulation through TNR efforts, provide medical intervention for injured and sick stray cats, educate the public on responsible pet ownership, and support local cats in need through feeding programs and colony management.
Every cat that comes through our doors receives individualized care, love, and a safe place to heal — whether that means emergency surgery, round-the-clock bottle feeding, long-term foster care, or simply learning to trust humans for the very first time.
As a foster-based rescue, we rely entirely on donations, community support, fosters, and volunteers to continue our lifesaving work. Every donation, every share, and every helping hand directly impacts the lives of cats who otherwise may not have had a chance.
At Kittens In The Mitten, we believe that every life matters — from the tiniest newborn kitten to the forgotten community cat fighting to survive.
Saving lives. Creating second chances. One kitten at a time.
